Linda P. Slade, age 78 of Ithaca, NY passed away Friday, January 19, 2024 at Groton Community Health Center with her family by her side.
Born March 5, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Edward John Polak and the late Virginia Edna Webb Polak. Linda was employed for over 20 years with Tompkins County Department of Social Services. She loved sewing, quilting and needlework. She attended St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ithaca prior to moving closer to Dryden and attending Dryden UMC. Linda was most happy being at home with her husband and family around her. A devoted stay at home Mom, she loved her grandchildren and retired to be a day care provider for her eldest grandson.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her husband, Richard A. “Dick” Slade; her daughters, Melanie (Jim) Solomon and Colleen (Martin) Katz; grandchildren, Nathan Solomon, Olivia and Ryan Katz; brothers, Edward Polak and Stephen (Pamela) Polak; sisters, Deborah (Benjamin) Allgood and Kristine Mol; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, she was predeceased by her sister, Pamela Slack.
There are no services at this time. Graveside services with a Celebration to follow will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 1, 2024 in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.smiletrain.org for children born with cleft palates. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
