LLOYD R. COTTERILL, age 84, of 744 Creamery Road, Richford, NY passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca after a brief illness. Lloyd was born Oct. 30, 1925 in Dryden, a son of the late Ernest and Carrie Schutt Cotterill. Lloyd was a graduate of Dryden High School and a 69 year resident of Harford. He was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church and a member and Past Master of Dryden Lodge #472 F.&A.M. as well as a member of the concordant masonic Scottish Rite Bodies in Binghamton and the Kalurah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Lloyd was a dairy farmer who along with his father and brothers operated Cotterdale Farms until 1968. After the sale of their farm property to Cornell University for the Teaching and Research Center, Lloyd was employed at the T&R Center for 12 years as a herdsman.

He was a Director of the Empire Livestock Co-op, a farm leader in the Dairyman’s League, a Committeeman with GLF (Agway) and a 4-H Leader. Under his tutelage his 4-H club members won many state and national honors including two National 4-H Cattle Judging Championships. He coached the Harford girl’s softball team for many years. Lloyd concluded his working career as a co-owner of Dryden Agway. Lloyd was a avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all he was a devoted husband, son, husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Survivors inlcude his wife of 62 years, Joyce Kahabka Cotterill, a daughter, Brenda Cotterill of Elmira, son, Ronald (Peggy) Cotterill of Storrs, CT and Richard (Margaret) Cotterill of Nova Scotia; brothers, Lewis (Marjorie) Cotterill of Tavares, FL, Clinton (Jean) Cotttrill of Dryden and Clyde (Helen) of Tavares; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Katy Prince and Rev. John Maltby officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Members of Dryden Lodge #472 will conduct Masonic Services at the funeral home Friday at 7:45 PM Those wishing to remember Lloyd are asked to consider a memorial to the Harmony United Methodist Church, Harford, NY 13784.
