Lloyd I. “Buster” Henderson,
age 76, of Freeville, NY and formerly of Lansing, NY passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Syracuse VA Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Born April 1, 1936 in Owego, NY, he is the son of the late Richard and Hazel Van Etten Henderson and husband of the late Rose Kelley Henderson who died in 2000. “Buz” honorably served with the U.S. Marine Corp from 1954 – 1957.
He was retired from the Laborer’s Union Local 589 of Ithaca and Cargill Salt Mine in Lansing.
“Buz” is survived by his daughters, Carole (Mike) Bell of Freeville, NY, Terry (Vasil) Lesiuk of Freeville, NY and Debra A. Meeker of Lansing, NY; four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sisters, Verna (Paul) Bowman of Lansing, NY and Shirley (John) Kelly of Groton, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a step-son, Danny Callaro; his sisters, Marge (Terry) Quinn and Betty (Gerald) Clark and a brother MIA, Richard “Dickie” Henderson.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 30, 2012 at Lake View Cemetery, Ithaca, NY with Rev. David Nicholls officiating. Members of the Dryden Veteran’s Memorial Home Ritual Team will conduct military honors. Following the service all are invited to a reception at the North Lansing Fire Station.
