Loella D. Bishop

Loella Satterly Bishop, of Brooktondale, NY passed away at the Hospicare Residence on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, three months shy of her 96th birthday.
Loella was predeceased by her parents Marvin and Stella Talcott Satterly, her sister, Lorana Myers, her brother, Elwyn Satterly and her husband, Alton P. "Bud" Bishop who died in 2000.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by her son and daughter in law, Wayne P. and Susan Bishop of Ithaca, NY; grandchildren, Wayne P. Bishop, Jr. (Heather) of Jacksonville, FL, Christopher Bishop (Tina) of Cortland, NY, Michele Sherman (Keith) of Groton, NY and David Bishop (Chi Chi) of Atlanta, GA as well as her eight great grandchildren, Katrina, Caitlyn, Kennedy, Allison, Colton, Justin, Gabe and Kelsey; nephews, Larry (Janet) Lattin, Rick (Louise) Lattin and several other family and friends.
Loella was born in Richford, NY on June 29, 1920. She married Bud in 1937. World War II sent her husband overseas for several years. In 1943, Loella went to work for NCR where she spent the next 45 years as a Timekeeper. Loella was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ithaca VFW Post #961. She and Bud enjoyed the many years they spent traveling to VFW functions and all the lifelong friends they made. In 1987 she was elected President of the New York State Auxiliary. Loella spent many years supporting the Oxford Veteran's Home. She will be remembered for all of her afghans she spent making and donating to family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Wheat officiating. Burial will follow at Quick Cemetery, Brooktondale, NY. Friends may call from 12 - 1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. A reception will follow at the Brooktondale Fire Dept.
