LOLA B. LEONARD, age 89, of Dryden, NY went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY. Lola was born Feb. 15, 1918 in Centerville, Iowa, a daughter of the late Floyd and Ida Rose Barnes. She was raised in Freeville and graduated from Dryden High School. Lola was employed years ago at Halstead Canning Co and Crescent Corset and later worked for many years as a Home Health Care Aide. Lola was a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed Bible Study and spending time with the her grandchildren and reading. She was constantly devoted to helping others.

Survivors include her children, Carolyn (Garry) Aldrich of McGraw, Beverly Sprouse of Cortland, Elsie (Salvatore) Ferro of Cortland, Nancy Ann Smith of Auburn, Harold (Linda) Leonard of Cortland, Richard (Gena) Leonard of Freeville and Robert Wesley (Frances) Leonard of Beeville, TX; grandchildren, Christopher "Joe" Sprouse, Salvatore "Sam" and Anthony Ferro, Sabrina Clark, Timothy Smith, Stephanie St. Pierre, Stacy Marko, Laurie Gosse, Loren Leonard, Jason Leonard, Shawn Akers; nineteen; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold A. Leonard; a grandson, Britt Sprouse; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Marko; sisters, Opal and Rose Virginia.

Lola’s family thanks the staff at Cortland Care Center, Parkside Wing for their affectionate and attentive care which helped to make our mother’s last years comfortable and enjoyable.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Ferguson officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in East Homer Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Following the funeral friends are invited to the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home for a time of fellowship.
