Lydia Tesfa, PhD, 58, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 18th, 2024.
Born September 28, 1965, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, she is the daughter of Melikit Daba and the late Tesfa Bushen.
In 2019, Lydia brought her extensive expertise in flow cytometry and infectious diseases to Cornell, and took the position as director of the Flow Cytometry Facility.
Lydia is survived by her loving husband, Aklilu Seyoum-Awoke of Lansing, NY, her only daughter, Kilole Aklilu of Manhattan, New York; her dear siblings, Sibasiben Bushen of Maryland, VA, Adey Tesfa of Utrecht, Netherlands, and Tedenekialish Bushen of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W Main Street, Dryden, NY 13053.
