Madeline C. Ayers
, age 89, of 809 N. Aurora Street, Ithaca, NY passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Ayers was born July 30, 1922 in Endicott, NY, a daughter of the late William and Mildred Murphy Evener.
Madeline was graduated from Newark Valley High School and was employed at National Cash Register for 36 years, retiring as an inspector.
Her husband, George Ayers, to whom she was married on May 8, 1955 died June 7, 1987. For more than 25 years she operated Aurora Ceramics teaching classes and creating lasting treasures for others and for her family. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and had created many afghans and tablecloths for her family. She was an avid New York Yankees fan having travelled to many home games and rarely missed a televised game.Survivors include her daughter, Annette Jacobs of Ithaca; grandchildren, Terrisue (Guy) Krogh, Christopher Randolph and Patrick (Gina)Bastian; great grandchildren, Lydia and Sarah Krogh, Tiah Randolph, Wade and Wyatt Bastian; her siblings, William, Virginia, Nancy, Kay, Linda, and Sharon;close friend, Eileen Corey; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Thelma, Shirley, Howard, Mary Lou, Gerald, Kenneth, and John.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Foote officiating. Burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 12:00 PM to 1 PM at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
