Magdalene (Maggie) Moesch, 93, died Sunday, July 8th at her home in Inverness, Florida after a short illness with family and friends at her side. She was born May 8, 1919 in Diemtigen, Switzerland and immigrated to the United States in 1922. She was raised in Berkshire, New York; remaining in Berkshire after her marriage, where her and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm for 21 years. She moved to Slaterville Springs in 1959.

Maggie was employed by Cornell University’s Department of Housing and Dining for 22 years. Upon retirement Maggie and her husband made their permanent home in Florida.

She was Preceded in death by her husband Herman of 50 years, son Leroy and her longtime companion Edward Miller. She is survived by her son David (Linda Rae) of Slaterville Springs, N.Y. , Daughters Carol (David) Cumbo of Jacksonville, N.C, Mary Ryan (Dennie) of Trumansburg, NY, and foster daughter Mary (Don) Jordan, Speedsville, NY, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Maggie’s family and many friends will miss her zest for life, helping hands and winning smile. She was a member of the Inverness Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3992, VFW Post 4337, and the First Lutheran Church of Inverness. Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, Florida and Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, New York, 13053 are handling arrangements.

Services will be held at the Perkins Funeral Home, Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11:00AM with Pastor Robert Foote of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ithaca, NY officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. A private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire, NY.Contributions can be made to the Slaterville Springs Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance, The American Cancer Society, Tompkins County or St. Jude’s Children Hospital. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com
