Margaret G. Hill, 86, of Dryden, NY, passed away on 11/27/2013 at the Ithaca Hospicare Residence after a short illness. She is survived by her children John H. Hill of Las Vegas, NV, and Margaret B. Hill of Piscataway NJ, her brother Edmund H. Gleason of Huntsville, AL, and many nieces and nephews.

Peg Hill spent much of her childhood on the family farm on Clark St in Groton, NY, with her brothers Edmund and Roger W. Gleason. She graduated from Groton High School, and went on to attend Syracuse University, receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art and music. In 1950, Peg married Ed S. Hill and moved to Dryden, where she resided for the rest of her life.

Early in her art career she illustrated English and math textbooks. She provided piano and guitar lessons to many young students over several decades. For many years Peg was a member of the Dryden Footlighters community theater group, where she was known for designing and executing stage sets, Fortnightly Club, and Hobby Club. An avid gardener, she grew many of the flowers and herbs used in her dried arrangements and wreaths. She also enjoyed reading and working complex crossword puzzles.

Peg was buried next to her husband, who predeceased her in 2005, in the Hill family plot in the McLean Cemetery on 11/30/2013.

A memorial service will be held at Perkins Funeral Home at 10 AM, Dec. 14th, 2013. Donations should be made to the Southworth Library in Dryden in lieu of flowers.
