Margaret A. Sears, age 95, of Ithaca, NY passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home in Ithaca.

Born December 7, 1919 in Lodi, NY she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Winifred Evans Fox and widow of the late Carl Sears who died in 1992. She attended country school in Lodi Center and was graduated from Interlaken High School. She then went on to Practical Business School in Ithaca. She had been employed in the cafeteria at Dewitt Middle School in Ithaca. She attended Brooktondale Baptist Church and was a member of Varna Senior Citizens, Caroline Senior Citizens and the Lodi Historical Society.

She is survived by her sons, Richard (Susan) Sears of Easton, MD and John (Margaret) Sears of Mooresville, NC; daughter, Nancy (David) Nivison of Cortland, NY; six grandchildren, Christine (Patrick) McGroder, Deborah Hoover, Karen (Chris) Wolske, Cheryl Sears, Brian (Courtney) Nivison and Jenn (Chris) Caldwell; ten great grandchildren; sister, Edith Foster of Trumansburg, NY; two nieces, several cousins and sister in law, Joyce Fremont of Dayton, OH. In addition, she was predeceased by her infant daughter, Rebecca Sears. A very special thank you to Ruth VanPelt for her faithful daily friendship. Also, a special thank you to her caregivers over the past few years and the caring staff at Oak Hill Manor.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY with Pastor Richard Lloyd and Pastor John Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 – 11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a memorial contribution to Brooktondale Baptist Church, PO Box 144, Brooktondale, NY 14817 or Lodi Historical Society, PO Box 279, Lodi, NY 14860 or to a charity of your choice.
