Marie Kirk

MARIE KIRK, age 93, Etna, NY passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Mrs. Kirk was born May 26, 1917 in Vestal, NY a daughter of the late Hugh and Rachel Steele Foster. Marie was graduated from Dryden High School in 1935 and was married to Leland F. Kirk for 56 years who died Dec. 21, 1991. For many years she worked in Havington’s Diner and later at the Dryden School cafeteria. She had resided in the Etna and Groton areas for most of her life and along with her husband operated a dairy farm on Kirk Road and later on Salt Road in Groton. She enjoyed family events, crocheting, crossword puzzles, watching the NY Yankees and NY Mets games. Her family offers a special than-you to her grandchild, Doran Diedrickson for the special care that she gave her grandmother. Marie was an extremely loving person who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her five children; her son, Fred Kirk of Etna and his children, Barbara Birdsall, Bryan Kirk, Scott (Terry) Kirk, Jeff (Mary) Kirk, Mike (Cathy) Evenland; her daughter, Patricia (Gary Munn) Kirk of Cortland and her children, Doran Diedrickson, Dan (Kristin) Diedrickson, Cherrise (Paul) Lockwood, Jolene (Don) Perkins, Alana (Mike) VanWinkle, Chad (Diane) Diedrickson; her son, Walter (Joyce) Kirk of Locke, NY and their children, Craig (Carla) Kirk, Melissa (Kevin) Barnes, Kristine (Chris) Lange; her son, Bill (Jean) Kirk of Lansing and their children, Jessica (David) Brigden, Daryl Kirk; her son, Bob (Denise) Kirk of Spartanburg, SC and his children, Robbie Kirk, Matthew Kirk, Breanna Kirk; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren. Marie was predeceased by her brother, Harold Foster.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Johns officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
