Marilyn H. Converse

Marilyn H. Converse, 79, of McLean, NY passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born on June 11, 1942 in Cortland, NY the sixth child of the late Ray and Mildred (Abbott) Converse.

Marilyn grew up in McLean, NY and graduated from Dryden High School in 1959. She went on to graduate from SUNY Cortland in 1963. She was a dedicated teacher in the Homer Elementary School for 39 years.

Marilyn loved to travel, taking many trips to Europe and the eastern U.S. with family members and friends. She was a member of the McLean Community Church and the McLean Beautification Committee. Her community was important to Marilyn and she supported many local causes. She was known for her handicrafts and delicious desserts.

Marilyn is survived by her brother Lawrence (Juanita) Converse, 10 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents Ray and Mildred (Abbott) Converse, Marilyn was preceded in death by her sister Winifred (Kenneth) Baldwin, Wilma (Lewis) Barber, Herbert (Elaine) Converse, Clara (Robert) Dellow, and her nephew Gary Dellow.

Services will be held at the McLean Community Church on Saturday, June 11, which would have been Marilyn's 80th birthday. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 am. The service will be held at 11:00 am followed by a luncheon. Marilyn's burial service will be in the McLean Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
