MARION A. STEPHENSON
, (age 90) of 88 Ed Hill Road, Freeville, died at the Hospicare Center of Tompkins County, March 31, 2006, surrounded by several of her daughters. She was born, July 21, 1915, in Olean, NY to Hugh and Mildred Axtell. Marion was a devoted wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend. She and her husband, Morris, worked a small farm in Potter County, PA and raised their eight children, as well as providing a home and/or family for many others through the years.
Marion is survived by her daughters: Patricia Crooks, Concord, NC; Mildred Reed, Shinglehouse, PA; Jacqueline (Richard) Bachar, Sequim, WA; Sarah Buskey, Hilton, NY; Sylvia (Pedro) Rodriguez, Belton, TX; Susan (Samuel) Morrie, Freeville, NY. She is also survived by twenty five grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren. Marion was pre-deceased by: her husband William M. Stephenson in 1962; her son William M.A. Stephenson; daughter Alberta Dunahue; five grandchildren and one great-grand child.
Marion was a devoted attendee of the McLean Community Church and enthusiastic member of the "My Brothers’ Keeper" quilting group of Dryden, NY and a member of the Etna Women's Community Club.
The arrangements for Marion are being conducted by the Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden, NY. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 6, 2006, at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be at 11:30 am, Friday April 7, 2006, at the McLean Community Church, 50 Church St., McLean. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday April 8, 2006, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Hebron, PA.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Marion may send memorial donations to Hospicare & Palliative Services of Tompkins County, 172 East King Rd., Ithaca. NY 14850 or the McLean Community Church, 50 Church St., McLean, NY 13102.
