MARJORIE E. LAIRD,
age 72 of 685 Sheldon Road, Freeville, NY died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at home after a courageous 4 ½ year battle with cancer. Marjorie was born March 1, 1935 in Elmira a daughter of the late Mason and Nina Bell Morey. Her family resided in Elmira Heights prior to relocating to West Dryden. "Margie" was employed at Smith Corona for 38 years until retiring in 1994. On Nov. 30, 1956 she was married to Elwood C. Laird, Sr. in Freeville, NY. Mr. & Mrs. Laird were long time residents of West Dryden and built a new home on Sheldon Road in 1995. Elwood passed away unexpectedly on November 24, 2007. Margie was an avid dancer and enjoyed art and crafts.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Elwood C. Laird, Jr. and Donna Laird of Burlington, NC; her grandchildren, Jessica (Mark) Billings, Traci and Gerry Laird, Kevin and Jenniffer Luhr; four great-grandchildren, Leigha, Allysa, Garren and Isaiah; two sisters, Ruth Bailey and Virginia (Daniel) Bailey; two brothers, Mason (Beverly) Morey and Robert (Kathy) Morey. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Monday, December 31, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 5 PM, Sunday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
