MARJORIE JANE MOREY,
age 74, died peacefully Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, 2008, with her family by her side. She was born in Elmira, NY December 28, 1933 a daughter of the late James and Ada Hazard Cady. Marjorie attended Farr School (a one room school) and was graduated from Corning North High School. Shortly after graduation she met and was married to the love of her life, John W. Morey. After some traveling moving around, Marjorie, her husband and three children settled in West Dryden on a small farm where they lived for 48 years. Marjorie was loved for many things, but was most of all a wonderful and loving, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was known to many children over the years as "Nana".
She is survived by her son, John W., Jr. and Jenny Morey of Groton; her daughters, Debbie Ormsby of Whitney Point, NY and Doreen (Mark) Kirchgraber of Groton; her sister, Barbara (Bernie) Mott of Johnson City; an aunt, Martha Beatty of Wellsburg, NY; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John W. Morey, Sr.; her brother, Phil Cady of Syracuse and a son-in-law, Phil Ormsby, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, Feb. 9th, 2008 at the Perkins Funeral Home with her grandson, Rev. Phil Ormsby officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
