MARSHALL E. WELCH,
age 83, of 15 Cook Street, Freeville, NY died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. Marshall was born Feb. 9th, 1924 at Deposit, NY a son of the late Perry and Margaret Schmidt Welch. Marshall was a resident of Binghamton, Virgil and Harford, NY prior to moving to Freeville. He was a carpenter, truck driver and for 18 years owned the Rafters Restaurant near Greek Peak. At one time years ago he and some friends traveled to South America to prospect for gold. Marshall was a life member of the Osco Robinson Post #617, American Legion having served in the US Navy Submarine Service aboard the USS Sea Dragon, USS Sturgeon and the USS Spikefish.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and David Hulslander of Harford ; his son and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Gracie Welch of Brevard, NC; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, December 15th, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Austin officiating. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY. Memorials are directed to the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team, 2272 Dryden Rd., Dryden, NY 13053.
Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, NY with Rev. Dale Austin officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Dryden Veteran’s Memorial Home Ritual Team. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com
