MARTHA VANETTEN,
of 3 Thresher Place, Freeville, NY passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. Mrs. VanEtten was born Dec. 12, 1920 in Ithaca, NY a daughter of the late Michael and Jennie Joseph. She was a life area resident and was married to the late Lawrence R. VanEtten, Sr. who passed away on September 3, 2008. Martha was a graduate of Lansing High School and was employed for over 40 years by the Dryden Central School System. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, JoAnn (Clint) Burdick of Lumberton, NC, Marsha (Chip) Nelson of Gable, SC and Lawrence R. VanEtten, Jr. of Freeville; a sister, Sarah VanEtten of Ithaca; a brother, David Joseph of Ithaca; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Brad) Daly of Rochester and Jessica Morrison of Binghamton; two great-grandsons, Raven Powell and Reese Peterson; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Tilly Marollo and a brother Joe Joseph.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lansing. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
