MARY E. HORVATH, age 97, of Horvath Drive, Ithaca, NY passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at the Groton Nursing Facility after an extended illness. Mrs. Horvath was born Sept. 5, 1916 in Newark Valley, NY a daughter of the late Frederick J. and Helena May Rifenburg Sears. A life resident of the Lansing area, she was predeceased by her husband, William Horvath, on Dec. 2, 1995. Mary enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening and being with her family. Mr. and Mrs. Horvath enjoyed many winters in New Port Richey, FL. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was always ready to help others in their time of need.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary (Earl) Hotchkin and Joanne McMillen; a son-in-law, Byron V. Nelson; a daughter-in-law, Joan Sears, nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ruth Ann Nelson and sons, Kenneth and Raymond; a grand-daughter, Deborah Rumsey Baker and a son-in-law, Richard McMillen.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Jane Sautter officiating. Burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 12 Noon to 1 PM, Saturday at the funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
