MARIE B. McCABE,
age 86, of McLean, NY passed away Thursday, January, 28, 2010 at the Cortland Care Center. Mrs. McCabe was born May 3, 1923 in McLean, a daughter of the late Orral D. and Lucy Walradt Barber. On December 23, 1940 she was married to John Patrick McCabe in McLean. John died April 22, 1978. Marie was a home aide and domestic all of her life, always loving and constantly caring for others.
Survivors include her nephews, Ronald (Laura) Sovocool of Groton, Carl (Nancy) Barber of Marathon, Charles (Kaye) Saunders of Rexville, NY and Frank (Elaine) Saunders of Arkport, NY; her nieces, Letha (Kenneth) Henry of Charleston, SC, Elaine (George) Henry of Groton, Helen Barber of Ravena and Winifred Woodward of Wayland, NY; a sister, Marguerite Barber Hercinger of Groton; sisters-in-law, Gwen McCabe of Homer and Phyllis McCabe of Lakeland, FL; and a special friend, Pat Porter and her family. Numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews also survive. Marie was predeceased by her brothers, Merle and Leslie Barber; her sisters, Doris Saunders, Durcy Stafford and Daisy Sovocool and a niece, Nina Cottle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Leslie A. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 PM Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Those wishing to remember Marie are asked to consider a memorial to the McLean Community Church, P.O.
