MARY NASH,
age 85, of 1562 Dryden Road, Etna, NY passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA after a lengthy illness. Mary was born in Caroline, NY a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Fox. Mary was a life area resident and was graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1941. Her husband, Marvin D. Nash, to whom she was married August 11, 1941 passed away in 1994. Mary was a member of the Dryden Township Post #8158 Ladies Auxiliary and the Etna Women’s Club. She was an election inspector and was involved with the Soup and Salad Suppers at Houtz Hall in Etna for many years. She was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who prepared dinner for her extended family every Sunday until two weeks ago. Being blessed with a large and enjoyable family was the highlight of her life. Mary is irreplaceable and greatly missed.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl A. (Mark Geatches) Denison of Deland, FL, Harlowe (Judy Crockford) Nash of Freeville, Gary (Laura Park) Nash of Etna, Daniel (Cindy Nielsen) Nash of Freeville and Tracy (Julie Treiber) Nash of Etna; grandchildren, Marcy Brandt, Jeffrey and Craig Nash, Joanne and Cindy Nash, Eric and Samantha Nash, Jolene Brockway; great-grandchildren, Tucker and Austin Brandt, Scott and Nicole Nash, Kendrick Nash; Joshua Nash and Brennan Brockway; her sisters, Dora (Edward) Brind of Richford, NY and Betty (Mose) Norman of Fort Myers, FL. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gerald and William Fox and a great-granddaughter, Kendra Nash.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. James Sweeney officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Friday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
