Mary Gratzer Pancoe, age 91, of Dryden, NY passed away December 31, 2014 at Groton Nursing Facility. Born October 23, 1923 in Syracuse, NY, she was the oldest of six children born to the late Norbert and Margaret Barron Gratzer. Mary attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and was graduated from St. John, The Evangelist High School in 1941. Her husband, George W. Pancoe, Jr., passed away May 9, 1973. Mary has lived in Dryden since 1985 and was a member of Dryden Senior Citizens, played pinochle every Thursday and was a communicant of Holy Cross Church.
She has also received many service awards from various civic organizations throughout the years. Mary was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Mary is survived by her children, Robert (Diane) Pancoe of Kingston, TN, Margaret Ferrel of Dryden, NY, Irene (Bruce) Drowne of Dryden, NY, Elizabeth (Thomas) Briggs of Syracuse, NY and Ronald (Belinda) Pancoe of Dryden, NY; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, John (Alice) Gratzer of E. Syracuse, NY, Raymond Gratzer of Mattydale, NY; sister, Anne Miller of Williamstown, NY, sister-in-law, Patricia Gratzer of E. Syracuse, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Gratzer, sister and brother-in-law, Norma & Chester Featherly and brother in law, Thomas Miller.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Holy Cross Church, 375 George Rd., Freeville, NY 13068 or to the charity of one’s choice. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
A Memorial Mass for Mary G. Pancoe, age 91, who died December 31, 2014 will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Holy Cross Church, 375 George Rd., Freeville, NY with Rev. Scott Kubinski as officiant. Friends may call from 9-11:00 am prior to the service at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Holy Cross Church or a charity of one’s choice.
