On July 2, 2018, stars came out and the heavens opened up. The love of her life reached down… This is not how the story ends……….
Born on September 9, 1926 in Ithaca, NY; Mary danced her way through life after graduating from Ithaca High School. She was employed in many different occupations but excelled as the illustrator for Rothschild’s Department Store ads. Later in life she was an avid dancer with Ithaca Academy of Dance and performed at many recitals. This talent has extended down to her great granddaughters. And as everyone who knew her well would attest to, the fact of her immaculate cleanliness with housekeeping and also interior decorating skills. We remember coming home from school and not being allowed to walk on the living room carpet for a bit because of the fan shaped vacuuming design that had been done. It’s true! She always enjoyed being with family and especially her grandchildren. Dress up with the granddaughters was always a fun time and expected when visiting her. Don’t think the grandsons got out of this event either 😊
Mary has now joined the love of her life, Gordon, dedicated and beloved daughter, Brenda Bleck and fabulous parents, Jim and Ruth Dougherty.
Mary is survived by her children; Rick (Jackie) Marshall, Debi (Jim) Niemi, Diana (Gary) Vrabel, Tom (Christi) Warner; 11 Grandchildren; 12 Great grandchildren and Grand-dogs, Bettis, Buster, Tara Belle and Finley (who will miss their favorite slice of cheese). Hugs and kisses Mom and Gramma
We would like to thank everyone who came to visit Mom, the awesome staff at Cayuga Medical Center 4th floor. A special thanks to Linda Warner, our family historian who has always showed unlimited support and love through family events, be they good or not so good.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
