MARY E. WHEELER, age 83, of Cortland, NY passed away Friday, July 19th, 2013 at Beechtree Nursing Facility in Ithaca, NY. Born September 2nd, 1929 in the Village of Pompey Hill, NY, she was a daughter of the late Otis and Alice Long Lyon and the wife of the late Robert P. Wheeler who died in 1996. The oldest of eight children, Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Earl, Otis, Robert and Richard Lyon and her sister Margaret (Carl) Grummons who lived in Texas.
Mary is survived by a son,, Donald (Nancy) Wheeler of Corning, Iowa and her daughters, Sharon Wheeler, Terry (Scott) Gay and Nancy (Mark) Everett all of Cortland, NY; sisters, Jean (Tom) Ardis of Cortland and Helen Leonard Malley of Saucier, Mississippi; eleven grandchildren including Michael Wheeler, Marisa Zogg, Jonathan Gay and Kenneth Everett all of Cortland; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; brothers and sisters-in-law all of whom she loved dearly.

A memorial service will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Cortland on Sunday, August 11th, 2013 at noon followed by a celebration of Mary’s life at the home of her daughter, Terry Gay, at 16 Morningside Drive, Cortland, NY.
