Maryjo (Grimaldi) Mashlykin

Maryjo (Grimaldi) Mashlykin, devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and lifelong educator, passed away on February 1, 2025 at the age of 76. Born and raised on Staten Island, Maryjo was a woman of warmth, kindness, and intellect who left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Maryjo was a proud graduate of New Dorp High School and went on to pursue her passion for education, earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from the College of Staten Island. Together, with her highschool sweetheart Walter Mashlykin they built a beautiful life, raising four children and sharing countless memories until Walter’s passing.

As a teacher, Maryjo spent her career shaping young minds both in high school and college. Her dedication to her students was matched only by her devotion to her family. She was a constant source of support, encouragement, and love to her children and grandchildren, always putting them first.

Maryjo is survived by her children: Alyson (husband Matthew), Amy, Peter, and Jody; and her beloved grandchildren: Hannah, Claire, Michael, and Maximo. She is also survived by her siblings, William, Richard, Patricia, and Margaret, and was predeceased by her brothers Charles and Robert.

Maryjo’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
