Matthew V. Blaker

Matthew Vernon Blaker, 65, of Slaterville, passed away from Covid at Cayuga Medical Center on Friday, May 14.

Matt was born August 25, 1955 to Vernon and Bertha Blaker. He graduated from Ithaca High School and Tompkins Cortland Community College and also served his country in the Marine Corp.

He was a lifetime member of the Trumansburg Gun Club where he shot skeet. He was an active member of the Ithaca bowling league. Matt was most passionate about his remote control boat racing and belonged to the Southern Tier New York RC Model Boat Club. He shared his love of building boats and racing with his son, Christopher. Matt was also a member of the Danby Community church.

Matt is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jackie Blaker and his grandson, Jeremiah Elkins. He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Bertha Blaker, and his son, Christopher Blaker.

Calling hours are at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden on Wednesday, May 19 from 4-5pm, funeral at 5pm. Friends are invited to join the family at the Dryden Hotel at 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matt’s honor to the Trumansburg Gun Club.
