MATTIE CHIAPPONE PHOENIX, age 70, of Besemer Road, Brooktondale, NY passed away, Friday, Feb.10, 2012 at her residence after an extended illness. Mattie was born June 11, 1941 in Ithaca, a daughter of the late Phillip and Juanita Ramsey Chiappone. She was a graduate of Ithaca High School and was employed as a Cornell University Bus Driver from 1985 thru 2001. Mattie enjoyed ceramics, gardening and her pets. Most of all Mattie enjoyed her family and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Harold A. Phoenix, Sr., her children, Elery (Jennifer) Rumsey,Tina M. Rumsey, Jack P. Rumsey, Jill M. (Joe) Tilton, Jamie M. Witkowski, Randal J. (Dwight) Rumsey, and Krystal L. (James) Potter; her step-children, Harold A. (Stella) Phoenix, Jr., Jeffery C. (Karen) Phoenix,William D. (Trish) Phoenix and Scott A. (Jennifer) Phoenix; grandchildren, Joshua J. (Kristina) Rumsey,Britney R. Percey, Sabrina R. and Chelsey M. Tilton, Onyx Dense Witkowski, Donavon, Spencer, Hunter,Adam, Aaron and Lindy Phoenix; great-grandchildren, Mattie Lou and Jamie Potter, Makenzie L.M. and
Dakotah J. Rumsey, Elias Caro; her sister, JoLu (Pete) Timblin; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mattie was predeceased by her parents and her daughter, Debbie M. Rumsey; her son-in-law, Andrew Witkowski
and a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Phoenix.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev.Donald Cooley officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to call from
