Michael J. Fitzgibbons

Michael J. Fitzgibbons, age 62 of Dryden, New York passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Groton Community Health Care Center.

Born June 15, 1959 in Auburn, New York he was the son of M. Jean Hart Fitzgibbons and the late William Patrick Fitzgibbons.  He was graduated from Dryden Central School in 1978 and was employed with TC3 and Cornell University before a debilitating disease forced early retirement.  Mike was a member of the Dryden Fire and Ambulance and received numerous awards and recognition for his service. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed card games at his brother Tom’s house with family and friends.  This was an event he looked forward to every weekend.

In addition to his mother, Jean, Mike is survived by his wife, Sue; sister, Kathleen (Brad) Perkins of Dryden; brothers, Patrick (Barbara) Fitzgibbons of Newark Valley; and Thomas (Lorraine) Fitzgibbons of Freeville; nieces, nephews and aunts.  In addition to his father, he was predeceased by brothers, John and Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Rd., Freeville with Father Joe Marcoux as officiant.  Burial will follow at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends may call from 4-6 pm Sunday, July 18th at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden.
