Michael Joseph Ocello

May 25, 1984 — January 22, 2018

Michael J. Ocello, 33, of Ithaca passed away on January 22, 2018, at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca. He was born in Ithaca on May 25, 1984, to Michael A. Ocello and Noreen J. Brown.
He attended both Dryden and Ithaca schools. While his family called him Mick, his friends knew him as Mike. He was a quiet young man with a big heart. He would help anyone at any time without hesitation. He inspired those around him with his sacrifices to others, even if it meant neglecting his own needs. Although he had many struggles in life, he lifted up everyone's life around him with his quiet humor and abundant kindness.
Mick was an artist at heart. He wrote poems, wrote and played music, and drew sketches of different things that inspired him. He was particularly fond of vinyl records, saying that he liked the "warmer" sound. He accumulated a large collection over the years from the 60's to modern day music. He was a musician who played guitar with his father and was in several bands. His love of music, both listening to it and recording it, was known by all who knew him.
Mick never got the chance to see the world, but his life in Ithaca gave him comfort and happiness.
Michael is predeceased by his father Michael A. Ocello, his paternal grandparents Anthony M. and Rose L. Ocello, and his maternal grandmother Jean Brown.
Michael is survived by his mother, Noreen Brown of Austin TX; his siblings, Maria Vanderpool of Cortland and Tony Ocello of Dryden; his maternal grandfather, John J. Brown of Ithaca; his uncles, John C. Brown and Rohn Brown, both of Rockville MD; his aunts, Pam (Stephen) Smith of Ithaca and Beth (Chuck) Garlock of Detroit MI; his cousins, Lisa (Justin) Landon of Lansing, Michelle (Erik) Sutter of Detroit MI, and Brett (Katie) Garlock of Detroit MI.
Mick will be missed deeply by all and he will be with his father again, whom he loved very much.
God bless you Mick, we love you so much!
