MICHELE L. MURPHY (nee Curley) of Lee Rd, Dryden, N.Y. joined the Lord on May 10, 2015 while surrounded by her closest family. Michele was born on March 17, 1946 in Binghamton, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph & Ethel McMahon Curley. She was a graduate of Seton High School, class of 1964, and received her R.N. from St. Joseph’s of Elmira in 1967. She was a dedicated mother, wife, and nurse. Passionate about young people, she spent the majority of her career caring for students at George Junior Republic and Ithaca High school. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and nurturing spirit. She was predeceased by her sister Marianne Curley Mastriani and her daughter Mary Pat Murphy.
Michele is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Michael Murphy; their two daughters, Ellen and Nancy Murphy; her brother, Edward Curley; a brother-in-law, Patrick (Karen) Murphy; two nieces and their husbands, Kathleen Mastriani Brancato & Jeff Brancato and Margaret Mastriani & Daragh O’Connell; great-nieces and great-nephew, Caroline and Joseph Brancato, Elise, & Rose O’Connell as well as her Lee Road family that is now spread far and wide.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Friday, May 15th at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville, NY. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 PM, Thursday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden. Since community and her love of animals were so dear to her heart, we ask that friends consider a memorial gift to the Dryden Kitchen Cupboard, P.O. Box 42, Dryden, NY 13053 or to the Cortland Co.
