Mildred M. Mitten

MILDRED DARLING MITTEN, age 95, of 216 Cortland-McLean Road, Cortland, NY passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at her residence with her nieces, Janice Wood and Laurie Batsford at her side. Mildred was born January 22, 1914 in Rothimay, MT a daughter of the late Albert and Laura Vogel Tucker. She was predeceased by two husbands, Lyle "Dick" Darling and Gerald Mitten. Mildred was retired from food service at SUNY Cortland. She enjoyed bowling at Hi-Lanes for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Mildred cared for her home and yard until suffering a stroke at age 92. She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Homer. Mildred’s family wish to thank the Sheila & Richard Lorows family and Lisa Burkhard as well as the Hospicare nursing staff for being so attentive to Mildred and supportive to her family.

Survivors include her two step-sons, Robert Mitten of Syracuse and Richard Mitten of Tully;

a step- granddaughter, Sherri Ayers of Marietta, NY and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her siblings, Wilma Batsford, Albert Tucker, Jr., Raymond Tucker, and Vera Shaw.
