Millard J. Hoagland

MILLARD J. HOAGLAND, age 96, of 12 Portzline Road, Dryden, NY passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2005 at the Cortland Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hoagland was born in Moravia on December 5, 1908 a son of the late John and Minnie Hoagland. He was employed for 43 years at NYSEG and retired as the chief field meter tester. On Sept.2, 1933 he was married to the former Marion Preston in Ithaca. Mrs. Hoagland died Dec. 9, 1980. For more than 20 years he was the Justice of the Peace in Dryden. Millard was a member of the Methodist Church for 80 years. He was a former member of Dryden Kiwanis Club and was the oldest member (Badge #3) of Neptune Hose Co. No. 1 of Dryden where he was a member for 75 years. For many years he was an amateur ham radio operator, call sign W2SHN.

Survivors include his daughters, Joan Hoagland of Waverly, NY, Cheryl A. Macomber and a son, James E. Hoagland both of Dryden; grandchildren, Stephen (Marta) Plourde, Scott (Janet) Plourde, Danielle (Greg) Miller, Sean (Stacey) Plourde, Patti Macomber, Michael (Stephanie) Macomber; a son-in-law, Ray Plourde; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion; a sister, Bessie Waters, and daughters, Patricia Hoagland and Norma Jean Plourde.

Memorial services will be at 11 AM Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005 at the Dryden United Methodist Church with Rev. Allan Kinney officiating. Burial will be private in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
