Mrs. Kathleen Moss Smith

MRS. KATHLEEN MOSS SMITH, age 92, of 11 Highland Drive, Dryden, NY died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Smith was born in Kelloggsville, NY on May 26, 1914 a daughter of Willard and Mary Alice Austin Moss. "Kay" was graduated from Moravia High School and studied for teachers training at Cortland Normal School and later from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education. Her husband, the late Edwin C. Smith, died August 26, 1968. "Kay" taught elementary classes in both the Dryden and Virgil Schools for many years prior to her retirement in 1972. She enjoyed writing short stories and loved to read a good mystery. Kay was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved and enjoyed her family.

Survivors include three sons, Charles E. (Kay) Smith, Sr. of Portland, ME, Stephen C. Smith of Dryden and Mark (Dotti) Smith of Ixonia, WI; grandchildren, Katherine (Andrew) Zimmer, Elizabeth Moss (Mark) Civiello, Charles E. Smith, Jr., Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Smith and Kathleen (Christopher) Sauve; great-grandchildren, John Knopp, Hannah Zimmer, Nathan Sauve and Maxwell Civiello; nephews, Stanley (MaryLou) Bradley, Gregory (Barbara) Moss and Theodore (Joette) Moss. She was predeceased by her siblings, Esther Bradley, Amber Jayne, Theodore, Lester, and Douglas Moss.

A private service will be held in Grace Episcopal Church, Cortland. Interment will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. There are no calling hours.
