MYRA M. WAINWRIGHT, age 83, of Willowbrook Manor, Dryden, NY and formerly of Cortland passed away Wednesday Aug. 25, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Myra was born Oct. 15, 1926 in Cortland, a daughter of the late Fritz and Florence McGillivray Keeler. As a youth her family lived in Harford. She was graduated from Marathon Central High School and attended Morrisville State College where she studied nutrition. While working as a chef for a family in Cortland, she met Earl V. Wainwright, Sr. and they were married Sept. 19, 1947. Myra was employed in the Cortland School cafeterias until retirement in 1983. Myra was a member of the Dryden Senior Citizens and had been a resident of Willowbrook Manor since 2007.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Lawrence Carpenter of Dryden and her son and daughter-in-law, Earl V., Jr. and Jodi of Cortland; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Mark and Giselle Wainwright and John and Benjamin Carpenter; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace Eversdyke of Dryden; a sister-in-law, Elsie Diaz and a brother-in-law, Michael Sacco; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl V. Wainwright, Sr. and a daughter-in-law, Jane Wainwright.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
