Nan J. (Rennie) Basso

Ithaca – Nan J. Basso, 88, of Ithaca formerly of Danby and Groton, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Cayuga Medical Center with her family by her side.

Born July 12, 1932 in Elmira, NY she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jean Gillespie Rennie and wife of the late Doyle Webber who died in 1988 and Albert J. “Al” Basso, Jr. who died in 2007.

Nan and her late husband “Al” owned and operated the Groton 5 & 10 Store and also Mill Race Antiques in Groton.

Nan is survived by children, Roy A. Webber, Carol A. Bruce, Darlene M. Reynolds and Michael F. Basso; grandchildren, Cathy Bruce Auge,  Dani Bruce Sanderson, David Scott Reynolds, Adam Webber and Rebecca Webber Gaudiosi; three great grandchildren, brother, John Rennie of NH and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she was predeceased by brothers, Robert and William Rennie.

Private graveside services for the family will be held in Groton Rural Cemetery, Groton, NY.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Royal Court Restaurant, 529 S.  Meadow St., Ithaca. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SPCA of Tompkins County, 1640 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, NY  14850.
