Nellie Mcgory Beames

Nellie M. Beames, age 99, of Sevierville, TN and formerly of Cortland, NY passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at the home of her son in Sevierville, TN. Nellie Beames was born Nellie McGory on October 4, 1917, in Dryden, NY. She graduated from Dryden High School and worked at Smith Corona, in the type room, until she retired. Following retirement, she spent 25 years volunteering, in the Café, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center and also with the Red Cross. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Cortland, NY. Nellie is survived by her son, Thomas, his wife Wendy; grandson, Thomas, his wife, Heather and their child, Cassidy; granddaughter, Jennifer, her husband, Josh Ort and their children, Madison and Kennedy; sisters in law, Bert McGory, Carolyn McGory and Margaret McGory; and many nieces and nephews. In addition, she was predeceased by her husband, Walter Beames and brothers, Robert, Henry, Thomas, Charles, John and Donald McGory.
A Catholic Prayer Service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland, NY. Friends may call on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 4-6 pm at the funeral home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. In lieu of flowers, Nellie wishes all donations go to the Cortland Regional Medical Center, 134 Homer Ave., Cortland, NY 13045
