NELLIE WHEELOCK, age 91, formerly of McLean, NY passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Groton Nursing Facility. Born February 28, 1919 in Spafford, NY, she is the daughter of the late Glenn and Ruth Reeve Craig and widow of the late Howard Wheelock who died in 2007. She was employed for many years in the cafeteria of McLean and Dryden Schools. She was a member of McLean Community Church, the Bible Study Group, and Groton and Dryden Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Wheelock is survived by her daughter, Sheryl W. Searles of Cortland, NY; sons, Glenn R. (Gail) Wheelock of Cortland, NY and Nelson K. (Donna) Wheelock of Preble, NY; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition, she was predeceased by a brother, Gilbert Craig and sister, Leona Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the McLean Community Church with Rev. W. David Ashby officiating. Burial will follow in Atwater Cemetery, Homer, NY. Friends are invited to call from 12 to 1 PM Saturday at the Church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to McLean Community Church, P.O. Box 246, McLean, NY 13102.
