Nicholas J. Patte, age 22, of McLean, NY passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at home with his family at his side.
Nick was a 2012 graduate of Dryden High School and remains an avid supporter of his sister's sports, especially softball, where he was team manager. In the fourth through the sixth grade, Nick was the MDA goodwill ambassador for the South Central NY chapter. He has met NASCAR's Tony Stewart with MDA and Taylor Swift with Make A Wish Foundation. Nick lived life to the fullest with the limitations he had, whether it was playing Xbox, horseback riding, boating, glider riding, amusement parks, summers spent on Cayuga Lake, or just spending time with family and friends teaching them how to live their lives to the fullest. Nick never let his disease define him; he never saw the negative only the positive.
Nick is survived by his parents, Robert and Sharon Patte and his sister, Alissa Patte all at home; paternal grandparents, John and Debra Patte of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandfather, Don (Lil) Darrow of Lafayette, NY; aunts and uncles, Thomas and Rebecca Kirby, Ethel Cratsley and Russell Cratsley, Shelley and Charlie Poklemba, Julie Hinman, Kevin Kirby, Keith Patte, Rick and Michele Barber, Jim Barber, John Barber and Vanessa Bentley, Tom Barber, Michelle Barber and Stephanie Kadish; cousins, Corey Poklemba, Andy Poklemba, Brad Hinman, Grace Hinman, Mykal Barber, Rachel Kadish, Brooke Barber, Ashley Perreault, Mercedes Barber and her children, Olivia and Lauren, and Michael Barber and Nick's best friend, Alison Thomas; and many dear friends that Nick considered family. In addition, he was predeceased by his grandmothers, Kathleen Patte and Margaret Darrow. Nick's family would like to express their sincere thanks to their many friends and community, Compassion Net, Franziska Racker Center and Hospicare for all their compassion and support.
Friends may call from 4 - 6 pm Friday, February 12, 2016 followed by a Funeral Service at 6 pm at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY with Pastor Robert Doan officiating. Everyone is invited to the Dryden VFW, following the service, for food and fellowship.
