Olive S. Coit, age 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Groton Community Health Care Center.
Born August 21, 1924 in Homer, NY she was the daughter of the late Milton and Letha Faxon Smith. Olive was employed with Smith Corona Corp. for several years, retiring in 1986.
She is survived by five children, Randy Simons of Maine; Faye (Jerry) Butts of Cortland; LouAnne Simons of Homer; Garry (Jeanette) Simons of Cortland and Danny (Rosanna Bilodeau) Simons of Homer; son in law, Joaquin Lira of Truxton and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Millard “Mike” Coit in 2005; daughter, Carol Lira and brother, Ward “Pete” Smith.
Private graveside services and interment in Groton Rural Cemetery will be in the spring at the convenience of the family.
