Phyllis J. Reese

PHYLLIS J. REESE, age 77, a resident of McLean, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Cortland Memorial Hospital after becoming ill on Tuesday.

Phyllis has been a member and officer of the McLean Firemen’s Auxiliary since 1964 and also was a member of the Tompkins County Firemen’s Auxiliary. Phyllis was retired from Smith Corona and later provided child care in her home. She enjoyed ceramics, collecting, attending auctions and camping but most of all loved her family and helping others.

A cherished wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Phyllis will surely be missed by a wide circle of friends.Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Harold, at home, her children, Marianne (Gary) Maybee, Robert (Shawn) Reese, David Reese and Joanne Stockholm; grandchildren, Jennifer (Lloyd) Spinner, Brandy (Robert) Crowley, Matthew (Tonya) Maybee and Frank Stockholm, III, great-grandchildren, Mikeala and Lynn Maybee, Emerson Crowley and Trinity Maybee; her siblings, Helen Coffin, Nancy (Edward) Couch, Mary Jane (Robert) Robinson, Donald (Lorraine) Cole, Patty (Edward) French and John Cole. She is also survived by her in-laws, Lloyd Reese and Mary Ruth Teeter and special friends, Wendy Foley and Shelby Fox.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery. Phyllis was born Feb. 26, 1935 in Cortland, a daughter of the late Marion and Eva Fitts Cole. A 1953 graduate of Dryden High School, Phyllis was married that year to Harold Reese and has been a life area resident.
