Preston Owen Goslee

PRESTON OWEN GOSLEE, a long time Cortland resident, World War II veteran, loving husband and father, Preston "Pret" Goslee died at home on Memorial Day, Monday 5/30/16. He was 96 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nita Goslee; 2 daughters; Linda Goslee Heymering and Patrice Goslee Fortier and their families. Pret was in the Army Air Corp during World War II where he experienced much death and destruction. He prayed daily that there would be no more wars. After moving to Cortland with his family from his home state of Connecticut, Pret became an avid skier and a tireless volunteer for the community. Pret's skiing accomplishments included: placing 3rd at NASTAR National Championships in Park City Utah; ski trips to Maine, Vermont, Colorado, Utah and Europe with his wife and skiing friends. He celebrated his 95th birthday skiing with family and friends at his favorite ski area Greek Peak. Pret was a volunteer with RSVP, The Red Cross, Feeding Kids In The Park and loved being the "Milk Man" at Randall Elementary School cafeteria. In 2012 he was named Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year at a dinner in his honor. Pret was a member of the Masonic Fraternity for 65 years with dual memberships in New York State and Connecticut. The works of the fraternal order were a very important part of his life. Pret also enjoyed sailing, hiking, Syracuse University basketball, the Red Sox, Hampton Beach, NH vacations but most of all spending time with his family.
Pret will be celebrated on June 11, 2016 at the Homer Avenue United Methodist Church in Cortland, NY with calling hours from 10-11am followed by a celebration of his life at 11am. A luncheon will be served at the church following the service. All are welcome to attend.
The church is fully handicap accessible. The church will be accepting flowers for the memorial service on June 11, 2016 from 9-10am on the day of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Homer Avenue United Methodist Church Children's Campership Fund, 30 Homer Avenue, Cortland NY 13045 or to Hospicare, 172 East King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 Perkins Funeral Home assisted the family.
