RALPH “Ame” LEONARD, age 88, of Slaterville Springs, NY passed away, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health. Born Sept. 13, 1923 in Slaterville Springs, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mildred Monroe Leonard. A 1942 graduate of Ithaca High School, Ralph was employed for many years as a machinist at Morse Chain in Ithaca until retiring in 1985. Ralph was a hobby farmer who grew and sold potatoes to the neighbors for many years. He was known for his dry sense of humor and enjoyed many friends in the Slaterville area.Survivors include his children, Rolanda (Joseph) Carrow of Berkshire, Joyce Leonard of Groton, Dawn (Anthony) Tordel of Dryden and Keith Leonard of Brooktondale; a brother, Joseph (Sharon) Leonard of Slaterville Springs; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Ray Leonard.Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Ben Hogben officiating. Burial will follow in Charles Mulks Cemetery, Slaterville. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 PM, Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
