RAYMOND D. BAKER, age 73, of Dryden, NY passed away, Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at Beechtree Care Center in Ithaca, NY. Ray was born August 5, 1940 in Owego, NY a son of the late Arthur D. and Gladys Wightman Baker. Ray was graduated from Owego Free Academy in 1957 and from Colgate University in 1962 with a BA in History and French.

He was employed for many years at the Dryden Agway Store and later at the Suburban Shopper and the Ithaca Journal with a short time with the Owego Penny Saver. He was a former member of the Dryden Kiwanis Club and the Lansing Lodge F. & A.M. Ray was a people person who loved to fish and spend time with his friends.

Survivors include his children, Stacey (John) Chavez of Albuquerque, NM, Joel (Michelle) Baker of Rio Rancho, NM; Patrick Tierney of Denver, NC and Leslie Herd of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, Stephen (Susan Eschler) Baker of Owego; grandchildren, Serena Canku, Kathleen Chavez, Hayden and Jenny Baker; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Brandon Acosta; and aunt Isabelle Brister of Endicott, NY; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends including, Dick and Mike Clark, Doris Ward, Donna Kuhns and Diane Bird to name a few.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Sivers officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Dresserville, NY. Friends are invited to call from 12 to 1 PM at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Memorials are directed to the Dryden Youth Opportunity Fund.
