Dr. Raymond D. Hicks., MD Ray, of Dryden, NY, after a hard fought battle with congestive heart failure, died peacefully in his home March 6, 2013. Ray was born November11, 1935 in Seagraves, Texas and grew up in Rogers, Texas. Survived by his wife, Nancy (Anderson) of 52 loving years; daughter, Linda (Bob) ClenDening and grandchildren, Will (deceased), Parker, Andie Scott, Maryn and Connor all of Nashville, TN; and son, David (Mary) and grandchildren, Dean and Cate of Dryden, NY. Ray has three brothers, Kenneth (deceased), Jack Clark (deceased), Roy Joe Clark of Elephant Butte, NM, and two sisters, Charlene Hendrix of Midland, TX and Wanda Jean Eggert of Temple, TX. Ray graduated from Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Waco, TX in 1957 and served in the U. S. Army Nurse Corps for eight years. Trained as a nurse anesthetist, Ray was honorably discharged in 1965 as a Captain. He attended University of Texas at El Paso and then graduated from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. He completed further training at Baylor University Medical Center and had a private practice in Internal Medicine in Dallas until early retirement due to health. Ray and Nancy moved to Dryden, NY in 2002, building a home with son, David, Mary, Dean and Cate. Ray loved working outside building a pond, golf green, mowing, digging, and planting. Ray also enjoyed attending all of the Dryden area youth sporting events, even when Dean and Cate were not participating. And any day was a great day if you got to play a round of golf and read a book. Ray was ever a 'Texas boy', a gentle quiet guy who showed his love by quietly doing for family, friends, and others - always saying yes to requests he could meet. Sweet Ray, Granddad, will be greatly missed here on this planet Earth, but Ray said a few days before dying, "I saw Jesus and He said, 'I'm fixin' a chair for you, Ray.'" Ray and family are also ever grateful for the many friends of Bill W.
