RAYMOND L. NEWHART, Sr., age 77 of Ellis Hollow Road, Apts., Ithaca passed away, Friday, May 13, 2011 at his residence. Ray was born Oct. 19, 1933 in West Dryden a son of the late Calvin J. and Minnie M. Mack Newhart. Ray served in the US Army from 1950 to 1953. He was retired from Pleasant Grove Cemetery where he was the caretaker and had worked years ago for Ingrahm Construction and Draper Egg. He enjoyed people, hunting and fishing and collecting. Ray was an all-around good-guy who will be missed by his family and his many friends.
Survivors include his three sons, Ralph (Pamela Silliman) Newhart, Craig (Tammy) Newhart and Raymond Newhart, Jr.; a sister, Virginia Whitted; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Ellis Newhart who died Jan. 16, 1986 and a brother, James Newhart.
