Richard Reid Besemer

Richard Reid Besemer, age 76, of Level Green Rd., Caroline, NY passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born December 30, 1941 at home in Ithaca, NY the son of the late Herman and Carrie Marion Besemer. He graduated high school and enlisted in the US Air Force in 1959 and was honorably discharged four years later in 1963. He was a graduate of Faith Baptist Bible College and was a well known local businessman. He worked most of his life as an aggregate producer with Cayuga Crushed Stone and was retired from Cornell University. He was an active amateur radio enthusiast AE2RB.
Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Katherine Page Besemer at home; son, Mark (Linda) Besemer of Walsenburg, CO; daughters, Carrie (Mark) Dye of Fitchburg, MA, Arlene Meddaugh of Caroline, NY and Mary Besemer of Trumansburg, NY; five grandchildren, Ashley Besemer, Autumn Meddaugh, David Besemer, Charlie Robinson and Sean Murray; five great grandchildren, his sister, Lois Stout of Florida and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three siblings.
Friends may call from 2-4 pm Monday, October 29, 2018 at Newark Valley Baptist Church followed by a memorial service at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Church Planters at BCP Youth Ministries, 36830 Royalton Rd., Grafton, OH 44044 in support of Chip and Karen Wood.
