RICHARD E. BLACK, age 80, of Harford and formerly Cortland, NY and Plant City, FL passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Richard was born Sept. 8, 1928 in Cortland and served proudly in the US Marine Corps. An experienced welder and blacksmith, Richard was the proprietor of Metal Craft in Plant City until retiring in 1990. His wife, Eva M, Barned Black, passed away April 13, 2008. Mr. and Mrs. Black lived in Florida during the winters and on Page Green Road, Cortland during the summer.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan G. Salce of Harford; grandchildren, Tina (Charles) Batsford of Cortland and Joseph (Judy) Salce of Moravia; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lillian Bell of Auburn; brothers-in-law, Charles (Alice) Barned and George Barned; nieces and nephews including, Roxanne Bell of Auburn and James W. Barned, Sr. of Harford.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Lloyd officiating. Burial will be private in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 12 to 2 PM Friday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
