Richard Burman (Dick) Ellis

Richard Burman Ellis, age 92 of Lansing, NY passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at home.

Born July 26, 1932 in Ludlowville, NY he was the son of the late Harold and Florence Bower Ellis. Dick was a mechanic with the City of Ithaca for many years, retiring in 1987. He is a veteran of the US Navy serving from 1952 until 1956 and was a life member of the Lansing Fire Department.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Jane Rollins Ellis of Lansing; daughters, Doreen (Jim) Turk of Danby, NY and Denise (Anthony) DePaolo of Kernersville, North Carolina; son, Mike Ellis of Mecklenburg, NY; step children, Lynn (Deb) Day of Lansing, NY, Deb Shea of King Ferry, Gwen (Paul) Pulkkinen of Snook, TX;  nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; brothers, Charlie (Barbara) Ellis of Lansing, NY, Stanley Ellis of Ithaca, NY, Ronald Ellis of Freeville, NY; sisters, Florence Pesu of Elbridge, NY, Judy Parker of Groton, NY, Joyce (Frank) Griep of Groton, NY, Joan (Alan) Tuttle of Locke, NY; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by the mother of his children, Betty J. Ellis; his siblings, Robert Ellis, David Ellis, Beatrice Lower and Ruby (Ray) Newhart and brothers in law, John Pesu and Ed Parker; sister in law, Laura Ellis.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ithaca, NY. A reception and celebration of Dick’s life will immediately follow and be announced at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lansing Fire Department, 80 Ridge Rd., Lansing, NY 14882 OR Hospicare and Palliative Care Services, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
