Richard P. Sovocool

RICHARD P. SOVOCOOL, age 83, of 1965 Peruville Road, Freeville, NY died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 at his residence after a lengthy illness. "Dick" was born May 20, 1923 in Cortland, NY a son of the late Emmet and Violet Sherman Sovocool. A long time area resident, Dick had resided in the McLean area for more than 50 years. His wife, Helen Sovocool, passed away November 24, 1995. Dick was a retired payroll department employee of Smith-Corona and worked part time on area farms. He was a avid sportsman and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.

Heights, VA, Sandra O’Flanagan of Grafton, OH, Arthur (Carla) Sovocool of Fort Wayne, IN, Karen Sovocool of Freeville, Richard Sovocool of Binghamton and Michael (Betty) of Groton, Darla (Roger) Eggleston of Freeville; his siblings; Norma (Howard) Slade, Emmet "Clifford" (Alice) Sovocool of Moravia, Elizabeth (Paul) Crouch of Groton, Edith (George) Clark of Dryden, Hilda Peterson of Groton; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by an infant daughter, Cheryl, who died in 1953; a son, Raymond, who died 2005; and siblings, Neva Barhite, Vera Burlingame, Carlton, Ralph and Lawrence Jay Sovocool.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. John Iler officiating. Burial will be later in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Memorial donations are graciously directed to the McLean Fire Dept., P.O.
