Rita Witty Harris

OBITUARY RELEASE
RITA WITTY HARRIS, age 81, of Dryden, NY passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at home after a lengthy period of declining health. Rita Rose Witty was born September 27, 1937 in Cortland, NY, a daughter of the late Ralph M. and Thelma Maxfield Witty. She was graduated as the Valedictorian of the Class of 1955 of Marathon High School. She was employed for many years at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University as the Personnel Manager. She had served as a board member of various local organizations including The Dryden Central School, The Southworth Library, Dryden Township Historical Society and the Green Hills Cemetery Association.
Survivors include her son, Brent Harris; her sisters, Rula (Carl) Summers and Lynda (Philip) Davern; a brother, Charles (Debbie) Witty; a sister-in-law, Nancy Witty; two granddaughters; nieces, nephews and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Raymond Harris, who died Sept. 1, 2018, a son, Mark Harris and a brother, Robert Witty.
Memorial Services will be held at 3 PM, Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Binkewicz officiating. Burial will be private in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 2 to 3 PM, Friday prior to the funeral. Memorial donations may be sent to the Green Hills Cemetery, 432 Ferguson Road, Freeville, NY 13068.
