ROBERT WILLIAM “Bob” BATSFORD,
age 75, of Berkshire, N Y went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at his step-sons residence after a 1 year illness with brain cancer. Born April 24, 1936 in Cortland, NY, he was a son of the late Robert “Clair” Batsford and Wilma Tucker Batsford. Bob was the manager of Owego’s homeless shelter, the Open Door Mission, and enjoyed Rock & Roll Music, dancing, cooking, karaoke, spending time with his family, his dogs, and his cat, Mo.Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Mary Batsford, his sons, Frederick Dexter of Richford, George and Wade Couch of Unicoi, TN, Mark, Kevin, and Bobby Batsford all of Syracuse; a sister, Janice Wood of Cortland; brothers, Wilfred Batsford of McLean and Gerald Batsford, Lincolnshire, IL; twelve grandchildren including two special grandchildren, Mandon Lee and Nikkita Renee Couch; nieces, nephews and cousins.Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY with Rev. Laureen Batsford officiating. There are no calling hours. Friends are invited to gather at Bob’s sister’s home, 216 Cortland-McLean Rd., Cortland, NY after the memorial service.
